How it works
-
What is an e-scooter
E-scooters are electric stand-up scooters that run on a battery. You control your speed with a throttle and cruise around with a smooth electric boost. Our Evolve E-Scooters come with turn signals for safer riding, big 12" wheels for extra stability, a bell to communicate with others, and automatic front and rear LED lights to help you stay visible.
-
What’s an e-bike?
E-bikes are electric pedal assisted bikes that operate using a battery. You ride an Evolve like you would a pedal bike, with the benefit of an electric assist motor that provides power to your own pedaling (making the steep hill a breeze!). But don’t worry, e-bikes don't propel on their own. Plus, each Evolve also has a bell to communicate to other road users, automatic front and rear LED lights, and a front basket to hold up to 5kg of gear.
-
How do I find an Evolve device?
Locate an Evolve device (e-bike or e-scooter) using the Evo App or by walking up to one at an Evolve Parking Zone. If a device isn’t appearing in your app, it may have a low battery and is unavailable. Each Evolve device has a plate number on its frame, which is also listed in the app to help you find and match it easily.
-
Can Evolve devices be reserved?
Yes! There is a 5-minute reservation window to give you time to unlock and inspect the device.
-
How do I start an e-bike ride?
Unlock an e-bike by locating the bike pin on the map or scanning the QR code on the bike using the app. Before you ride, adjust your seat, put on a helmet, and get familiar with the brakes, bell, and safety tips. Once you're ready, just start pedalling — the electric assist will kick in and help you cruise!
-
How do I start an e-scooter ride
Find an e-scooter by locating the scooter pin on the map or scanning the QR code on the scooter using the app. Before you ride, put on a helmet and get familiar with the brakes, bell, turn signals, and safety tips. To get going, place one foot on the platform, give a few kicks off the ground with your other foot while pressing the "GO" button — the motor will kick in and you're off!
-
How do I stopover?
If you need to make a stop and want to keep your Evolve device, select Stopover in the app. When ready to resume your trip, click Resume Trip to unlock it. Note that trip time continues to accumulate while in stopover mode. Keep in mind that your trip time keeps accumulating while you’re in stopover mode. Be sure to park responsibly and avoid obstructing pedestrians, cyclists, or other road users.
-
How do I end my ride?
Park your Evolve device at any designated Evolve Parking Zone. If you're using an e-bike, engage the kickstand and place the helmet in the basket. For e-scooters, insert the helmet securely into the helmet lock. Once everything is in place, tap End Trip in the app to wrap up your ride!
-
What are the yellow and red shaded areas on the map?
Yellow zones, highlighted in the Evo App, indicate areas where your device's speed will automatically reduce to enhance safety. Red zones, also visible in the app, are strictly no-riding areas where devices cannot enter at all.
-
How fast can an Evolve device go?
Evolve devices can reach speeds of up to 25km/hr. While you might exceed this when going downhill, the extra boost won’t go beyond this limit. You can check your speed at any time on the display screen of your e-bike or e-scooter.
-
How far can I go on a fully charged e-bike?
A fully charged battery will last for about 50km of ride time, depending on conditions. You can check battery levels in the Evo App to plan your trip length. If the battery runs out, the device can still be ridden, but without motor assistance.
-
What if a battery runs out during a trip?
A fully charged battery will last for about 50km of ride time depending on conditions. Battery life can be viewed in the Evolve app so you can determine how much battery life you need based on your trip. Even if the battery dies, you will always be able to ride Evolve, it just won’t have that extra boost.
-
Where can I take an Evolve device?
Ride your Evolve device in designated bike lanes, paved trails, or on streets. Return it to an approved spot within the Home Zone. Follow the rules of the road, walk your device on sidewalks, and avoid no-cycling zones or off-roading.
