    • E-Bikes are electric pedal assisted bikes that operate using a battery. You ride an Evolve like you would a pedal bike, with the benefit of an electric assist motor that provides power to your own pedaling (which makes getting up hills a breeze). But don’t worry, e-bikes do not propel on their own. Evolve also has three gears to tackle tough hills, a bell to communicate to other riders, automatic front and rear LED lights, and a front basket to hold up to 10kg of gear.

    • Find an e-bike in the app or walk up to one on the street. If an e-bike isn’t showing up on your app, it may have a low battery and is unavailable, so you’ll need find another e-bike. Evolves have a plate number on the frame which is also listed in the app.

    • If it’s in the app, it's available! Simply hit “unlock” and scan the QR code to start riding.

    • Sorry, you can’t reserve Evolve.

    • The only way to unlock and ride Evolve is through the app.

    • Starting your trip is easy, hit the “unlock” button and scan the QR code. Follow the prompt for your pre-trip checklist, and then remove the pin from the wheel, and place in the holder above the wheel. Adjust your seat height and your helmet and you’re ready to roll.

    • Stopping over with Evolve is easy. Simply pause your ride in app, lock your bike using the red cable lock and Evolve will be waiting for you when you get back. Unpause your trip to unlock the pin and resume your ride. Just remember, stopover time counts as part of your trip.

    • Make sure you’re in an approved parking location. Then, engage the kickstand and thread your helmet through the pin and red cable and guide the lock pin through the wheel spokes and into the lock. Hit the “End Trip” button in app, do your post-ride checklist (this includes a parking photo) and you’re done!

    • There could be a couple reasons you are having trouble ending your trip.

First, check to see if the spoke of the back wheel may be blocking the pin holder on the wheel by moving Evolve forward or backward slightly, and then re-try locking your e-bike. Push the pin in as far as it will go to make sure it’s fully engaged.

If you’re still having issues, you might be outside an approved parking spot or Home Zone. Check the app for approved parking areas and try again. If you still need help, contact us.

    • You are able to ride Evolve in all seasons, but we rely on Members to determine what are safe conditions to ride in for their level of comfort and ability.

    • A fully charged battery will last for about 80km of ride time depending on conditions. Battery life can be viewed in the Evolve app so you can determine how much battery life you need based on your trip. Even if the battery dies, you will always be able to ride Evolve, it just won’t have that extra boost.

    • Evolve will help you get up to speeds of up to 25km/h. While you may be able to go faster when going downhill, you won’t get an extra boost over this speed.

    • Evolve is not designed to be transported on bike racks, and doesn’t fit on an Evo or other vehicle mounted racks. Evolve is only meant to be used in and around the Home Zone. So, even though you can ride anywhere, transporting Evolve by any other means other than cycling can result in a cancelled Membership.

    • Ride Evolve anywhere, just return it to an approved spot in the Home Zone. Be aware that you still have to follow the rules of the road, which means sticking to designated bike lanes or on street riding (walk Evolve on sidewalks and no off roading).

    • While in a trip or on a stop-over, you can park Evolve anywhere you would park a personal bike, such as a public bike rack. Use the red cable to secure Evolve while unattended.

When ending your ride, Evolve must be parked at approved spots, which can be found in app with Parking (P) icons. Each parking location will have a rack, locker or other facilities to allow you to securely and safely lock Evolve and end your trip. Your organization might have specific rules on how to park – double check your organizations rules about where to park .

Not securing your Evolve properly or leaving a bike outside approved parking spots can result in a fine, so if you’re having issues finding parking, we’re always here to help – contact us at 778.722.1714, 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.

    • Don’t park Evolve anywhere that wouldn’t leave your personal bike, and always lock Evolve to secure it (we always suggest securing to bike racks)

While you can park outside of an approved spot during a stopover, you can only end your trip in an approved parking spot. You won’t be able to end your trip unless you’re back in the Home Zone and in an approved spot. Check out how to end your trip to ensure you are parking and locking your bike confidently.
